We started PRLV with a simple goal in mind: to gather together as a community to protect our rural community and to stop the encroachment of incompatible development that threatens our rural way of life.
Currently, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is planning on developing a 70,194 square foot, 216-foot-tall temple on 19.8 acres (with separate meetinghouse on Tee Pee Rd of 15,982 sq ft) on West Grand Canyon between Florine and Hickam. The site will also include a ground's building that will be 1,690 sq feet. This temple will reach the same heights as Durango Casino and will be brightly lit all night, ruining our dark skies. Additionally, the temple site will have 514 parking spaces, bringing huge numbers of traffic that our rural preservation area and neighborhood has never, ever seen before. This development is right next to a Rural Preservation Area and is NOT compatible with our rural area!! Residents who bought or built within the rural preservation area never believed that a colossal building of this magnitude could be built and tower over our homes and backyards. Say NO to this ENOURMOUS structure in our neighborhood!! lone mountain lds temple lds lone mountain temple
At PRLV, we believe that building a strong and supportive community is key to our success. That's why we've created a platform that puts people first - before money, politics, and big organizations - and fosters a sense of belonging and connection within our community.
